Construction of economic centers all over the country expeditiously

The Economic Development Ministry has launched an accelerated program to set up economic centers in the areas identified for the benefit of the country’s fresh, lush and cheaper consumers.

Parallel to this, economic centers in Batticaloa, Kaduruwela and Vavuniya have been set up. Rs. 5791 million has been allocated for this purpose, the Economic Development Ministry said. Rs. 300 million for the construction of a dedicated Economic Center in Batticaloa, Rs. 5,200 million for the Kaduruwela Agro Economic Center and another Rs. 291 million for the Vavuniya Economic Center. The amount allocated to the Vavuniya Economic Center is Rs. 200 is provided by the Consolidated Fund.

Meanwhile, a sum of 50 million rupees has been allocated for renovation of economic centers in various areas.

Two new outlets at the Haragama Farm and the Kaoruwewa Farm at a cost of Rs. 7.4 million.

It is planned to construct two halls at Dambulla and Keppetipola in the special economic centers in 2018 and allocate Rs. 385 million for this purpose in 2018.

In addition, 600 million rupees has been allocated to re-establish new specialized economic centers in Galle, Mannar and Anuradhapura.

A sum of 20 million rupees will be invested in Ampara and Kilinochchi Economic Development Centers for infrastructure development.

The Ministry of Economic Development has decided to complete the construction of veterinary inspection centers at Kalutara, Galle and Mannar districts.
