Kumiko Rahim emerged as the new Sri Lanka National Record at the National Short Course championship. Sri Lanka’s fastest female player in the South Asian region, Kimiko Raheem has become the fastest female athlete in the South Asian Games.

Kimiko Raheem emerged at the second day of the championship held at the Loyola College swimming pool in Negombo on the 100m freestyle 100 meters freestyle, 400m freestyle and 200m freestyle events. She entered the Killerswaler Water Sports Club and finished her 100m freestyle event in 56.31 seconds. The old record was set up by her sister, Machiko Raheem, in 57.25 seconds. Kimiko’s sister, Machiko Raheem, was 4-4 minutes in the 400 meters freestyle event, 4: 20 minutes in a distance of 4: 20 minutes and 23 minutes in Kimiko. The new Sri Lankan record for the 200m sprint was Kimiko Minute 2: 21. She set up in 97 and set the old record in 2: 24.97 minutes in 2014.

Dilanka Shehan of Nalanda College won the Gold Medal with 4: 49.32 secs while Ruwan Senevirathna of Colombo International School won the Silver medal and Kilinochchi Water Sports Club Arukshan Palinchandran 4: 53.58 secs in a time of 4: 57.52. respectively.
