Dumith Fernando will be appointed to the Board of the Colombo Stock Exchange

Dumith Fernando has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Colombo Stock Exchange at the 32nd Annual General Meeting.

Dumith Fernando, who has been serving as an international investment banker for over two decades in the US and Asia, is the Chairman and major shareholder of Asia Securities. He oversaw the operations in 12 countries, holding Credit Suisse and JP Morgan as Head of Corporate Credit in Sri Lanka before being the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Hong Kong Credit Suisse (Hong Kong). Also, he has held various posts in JPMorgan’s Corporate Finance, M & A Advisor, Private Securities Investments and Corporate Strategies in New York and Hong Kong.

He is a Senior Advisor to Hong Kong Tyronne Capital Management, a global asset management company and is currently working as the non-executive chairman of several companies. In 2013, he was elected to the Young Global Leaders’ Forum by the Global Economic Forum.

Mr. Dumith Fernando has obtained the Middlebury College degree in Physics and Economics and the University of Harvard Business School.

The Board of Directors of the CSE consists of five Directors appointed by the National Banking Directors and four Governors appointed by the Government of Sri Lanka.
