Economic growth between 4.5-5-5 in 2017 – Central Bank Governor

Central Bank Governor Dr. Indrajith Coomaraswamy said that Sri Lanka’s economic growth rate would be 4.5 to 5 percent by 2017. He was speaking at a media briefing today (23) at the Central Bank premises.

Speaking further, Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Indrajith Coomaraswamy,

“The drowning in the first quarter of the year and the floods caused by the floods have seen a slowdown in economic growth. A great deal of effort is needed to recover after the flood disaster situation. ”

“In the first half of the year, the economic growth rate was around 3.8 percent. Therefore, maintaining an estimated 5% growth rate at the beginning of the year is quite high. This may lead to an economic growth rate of between 4.5 and 5 percent in the year. ”

“After the global financial crisis, for the first time, we see a progress in all major economies. This is seen in the US, Europe, Japan, India and China. With the advancement of this economy, we can be confident that we will contribute to our exports. ”

“We should pay attention to Qatar’s crisis. Our large number is in Qatar. For example, if there is a large quantity of water, it has a Qatar. It depends on how long this crisis will last. “
